We had some friends over the night that I first made this caramelized onion dip and let me assure you the bowl was nearly licked clean. There were several requests for the recipe and a couple of near chip fights as they scraped at the last little bit left in the bowl.

To say it was a hit, doesn’t even describe just how much it was enjoyed. I’m glad I have a whole lot of caramelized onions stashed in the freezer, because this dip is going to be in the regular snacking rotation for get-togethers.

Caramelized Onion Dip

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this recipe:

  • sour cream
  • mayonnaise
  • kosher salt, pepper, and garlic powder
  • caramelized onions 
  • fresh Italian parsley

Caramelized Onion Dip Recipe

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and garlic until smooth. Stir in the cold caramelized onions. Taste and adjust seasonings, as needed.

Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve. Sprinkle with parsley before serving, if desired.

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
