Slightly crisp with soft sweet insides, air fryer sweet potato wedges dipped in ketchup are impossible to resist.

Sweet Potato Wedges in Air Fryer
Wedges, slices, diced, in hash, or whole – it doesn’t matter how you slice them, sweet potatoes always satisfy just a bit differently than regular potatoes. Sweet potatoes have a way of making a meal feel just a bit more celebratory than regular old potatoes.
I think that is because sweet potatoes are often served as a holiday side dish or treat and are frequently served topped with brown sugar, a praline mixture, or marshmallows. Don’t get me wrong I love those dishes too.

However, over the years, the savory side of sweet potatoes has won me over. Hand me a savory sweet potato dish and I’m a very happy camper. Sweet potatoes are delicious with just a sprinkling of salt and pepper. You can treat them just like traditional potatoes.
To make sweet potato wedges in the air fryer, peel and slice your sweet potatoes. The number and size of your wedges is entirely up to you.
Obviously, thicker wedges will take longer to cook than thinner or small wedges. Keep an eye on the cooking and adjust as needed.
It will take just under 20 minutes to air fry wedges like pictured here. I do stop halfway through and flip the wedges. Make sure to allow for plenty of airflow around each of the pieces for more even air frying.

I use the COSORI Air Fryer for all of my air fryer recipes. I’m partial to a square basket air fryer as I find it easier to fit more food into the basket. This is a 5.8QT air fryer, one of the largest machines I’ve found that works effectively.
My first machine (photographed in several recipes here) was a bit retro with simple knob controls and I liked it a lot. However, that machine was recalled recently and the company sent out a replacement. I like the new machine every bit as much and have linked it above.
This air fryer is surprisingly easy to clean and the two-part basket locks together (it’s literally impossible for it to detach the way some do) until you open the latch and then push the button to release it. I simply wipe down the baskets with a sudsy dish scrub brush or sponge, rinse and let them air dry on the counter.

Sweet Potato Wedges Air Fryer
Ingredients
- sweet potato
- olive oil
- kosher salt
- freshly cracked black pepper
- granulated garlic or garlic powder
- plain or smoked paprika

Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Place the sweet potato wedges in a large mixing bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle generously with salt, pepper, garlic, and paprika. Toss to coat thoroughly.
- Line the sweet potatoes up in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd them. (If there isn’t room for the air to flow between them, they will not have crispy edges.)
- Air fry the potatoes until they are fork tender, and then fry a bit longer to get a slightly crisp edge. This usually takes about 16-18 minutes. Use tongs to turn each wedge over halfway through the cooking time.
