Herb Buttered Mushrooms

These herb buttered mushrooms are an aromatic feast with fresh parsley and basil, caramelized onions, and garlic.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound fresh small button or Crimini mushrooms halved
  • ¼ cup chopped yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth or dry white wine
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt adjust to taste
  • 10 fresh basil leaves minced or sliced thin
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Italian parsley chopped

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, melt the butter and cook the mushrooms, onion, and garlic for about 5 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the broth or wine and scrape up any bits on the bottom of the pan. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Remove from the heat and add the basil and parsley. Serve warm.

Notes

A tablespoon of fresh rosemary or thyme may be substituted for the basil in this recipe as well.
