Savory Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Savory mashed sweet potatoes are a quick side dish for any meal. Not sweetened with brown sugar or maple syrup, savory is where it is at!

- 3 pounds sweet potatoes peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt for boiling
- 4 tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon granulated garlic or garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt adjust to taste
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper adjust to taste
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and stir to dissolve. Boil for 10-15 minutes, until you are able to easily pierce with a fork. Take care not to overcook.
Drain potatoes and return them to the pot. Place the pot back on the stove over very low heat. Add the butter and cream to the potatoes. Use a potato masher or hand mixer to mash the potatoes and incorporate the butter and cream into the potatoes.
Sprinkle with garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper and stir to mix well. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Serve warm.
